I have 2 bulging and 2 herniated c4-7 terrible nerve pain down rt arm and numbness and weakness. It feels like a hot bolt it being pulled out my rt elbow. Sometime hot pins and needles sometime cold pins and needles. Pain meds help and I also got a TENS unit that helps too. It just interrupts the pain but some nights it's the only thing that allows me to sleep. Looking at surgery in July. Good luck everyone.

He is sending me to see a surgeon, the neurologist said the surgeon may want to do surgery. I am only 32yrs. old does the surgery hurt, what is the recovery time, I can't afford to take off of work due to my wife losing her job. Any help would be appreciated

I had an accident and was told I had 5 herniated disks, but how can I have them if I can walk even with temporary pain and temporary numbness but when the disk wears down through injury or age, or how can person walk? Usually, herniated disks are a rubbing together of the bones in the spine. I may have been misdiagnosed even with the 5 herniated disks and the orthopaedist is not too qualified. I had two months of the chiropractor and it did no good. She just said the spine was out of alignment after my fall. Now I have a new lawyer and maybe he will find my truth as what is really is. The hospital refused an x-ray. Marilyn Bloch

Anyone please advise I was recently diagnosed with a bulging disc at the L4-L5 level and a herniated disc at the L5-S1 Level. For the past 3 months I have done physical therapy (electrical stim, ultrasound, traction) accupuncture (needles and cupping, chriropractic (adjustments, electrical stim and decompression) and lastly therapeutic massage (regular and deep tissue) plus bought a Back2Life machine. Nothing has worked, I've had and MRI to confirm the disc problem and was given two Epidural Steroid injections which offered no relief I was scheduled for a 3rd but my Neuro Dr. informed me that if 2 hadn't worked a 3rd wouldn't and he subsequently scheduled me for a mylogram (SP?). I just had the consult with him and he informed me that surgery would do more harm than good and that if i lost weight (I'm overweight but not obese), sucked it up and took ibuprofen it would heal on its own. Now I've read the "Horror stories" about surgeries failing and have read all the other posts but how does a Dr. expect a person to function normally when they are walking around in pain (daily 7/8 out of 10). And for me IBUPROFEN is not cutting it, I've been on Hyrdocodone, Oxycodone, Tramadol, Darvocet. Would it be time to get a Second opinion

I have 6 herniated discs, 3 in the neck and 3 in the lower back. I have had 2 heart attacks in the last 8 months and an anerusym on my heart repaired also. I am in a lot of pain but the doctors say there is nothing they can do because my heart is too weak. I just know there has to be another answer... any suggestions?

Hi Maureen and Debra, Sorry to hear about your L5-S1 problems. The chiropractor adjusted me in July and I have been in major pain ever since When I walked into his office with only a little muscle ache in the middle of my back. Just paid $800 for a private MRI as I have been in constant 24/7 pain. He had a copy of my MRI from 1 1/2 years ago showing this problem but just kept adjusting my lower back. I didn't know that you shouldn't get adjusted with this problem but now I am in so much pain I'm no meds and can't do normal activies or operate my cleaning business which I have had for over 7 years. I agree with Debra, DO NOT get chiro adjustments with herniated discs. I found out the very hard way.

I just went to my regular MD and told him my MRI is showing protruding discs(C6-7). I told him my headaches continue to be a problem. He said I am having "Cervicogenic Headaches." I have been researching on the internet and they are related to neck problems. I am so relieved to actually know what these headaches are! I have been misdiagnosed for years and tried so many meds. I am probably going to have Lazer surgery for my discs in Dec.
