Ten years ago at age 36 I was diagnosed with a left sided small herniation at the L-5 disc. After one year of shots, physical theraphy, medications and four doctors. I had my first surgery through the abdominal wall involving removable of the disc, implant and a bone fusion from my right hip area. My bones did not fuse. Eight months later hardware replaced the bone fusion. Now ten years later pain is back. I did fairly well for eight years. But now I have been seeing a chiropractor which I never did ten years ago. I heard some not so good things about them at that time. She diagnosed me with stage two arthritis in the L-3 to the L-5. In addition to some bone spurs. I have been in treatment for six months. I can only say I am no worse but not better. The pain is exactly the same as ten years ago except more intense in my left leg when I sleep. What else can I do. I exercise three to five times a week by walking a mile each time and I do stretches everynight. I tried Glucosamine, ice. Rest does help. But I am only 46 this has really been affecting my life. I no longer work as a hairdresser. And have tried taking classes at the local community college to find a new career path. But have found that sitting in class is just as bad. Help!!!!! View and comment on this thread at the Back Pain Forum
